The Search for Joy

Most seek happiness in life. We pursue it in different ways. Some are convinced that worldly success and wealth are keys to happiness. Others believe happiness comes from relationships and family.

Neither is wrong; the problem is that happiness is fleeting.

This is true because happiness can be dependent on what happens to us, while joy reflects what is happening within us.

I have come to realize that joy is not found in worldly success or tangible things. It is found when I acknowledge how blessed I am to have found a Savior who made a way for me to find joy and have it always.

You may ask, how is this possible in a world that is constantly reminding us of what we lack instead of what we have?

The answer is to look beyond our circumstances and choose to “be joyful always.” Is this difficult? Yes, but it is attainable when we can see blessings amid life's struggles.

We will know joy when we take time to love God and others, to be loved, to know love, and to share love.

This is because love is where joy resides. I believe that if we take the time to love someone today, we will not only find joy; joy will find us!

Philippians 4:4: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
