The Sky is Falling

Perception is reality for people. This is true because the way we see something is the way it is. Or is it?

“The sky is falling” is the way many see life.

For some, the issues they face or the problems that occur can be both overwhelming and debilitating. Many times, it is as if “the sky is falling” and these people need to let everyone know it before it is too late.

The truth is the sky is not falling. The world is not coming to an end, we are not going to die if our situation doesn’t resolve itself the way we had hoped, wanted, or needed it to.

This is a reality of life, not a perception.

Does this mean our problems or issues are not real? Or that there will not be consequences or costs associated with our current situation? Absolutely not. What it means is life will go on even if we cannot see how.

I say these things because our perspective is ours and what we do with it is our responsibility. I do not begin to think there are no issues in life that place angst and concern on our hearts at times. I just believe the impact these things have on us is up to us.

Remembering the issues and problems we may have faced and come through previously should enable us to realize, this too will pass when we are facing a seemingly insurmountable issue today.

Our perception is our reality, and this is true enough. But our reality can be different when we realize it is ours.

You see, we all have a choice to make each day. The choice is, will we allow the problems and concerns of yesterday to overwhelm us today?

It is a choice because how we see things is up to us.

I have chosen to see today’s problems as temporary. Even when I cannot see how they are going to be resolved. I have come to accept I can only do what I can do and once I have done that, there is nothing else I can do.

Does this mean I am not conscientious or responsible. Absolutely not. It simply means, I am aware of the limited control I have over many situations.

I can do this today, because I remember I have seen problems come and go before, and I am still here. My life is still moving forward. The sun still rises and sets, and the truth is, I am blessed!

So, the next time it seems like your world is coming to an end and “the sky is falling” in your life, remember, it is not falling at all and the weight you are feeling from the burdens of life are not going to destroy you.

Because the sky is never really falling. What we are feeling is gravity, and it is only as heavy as we allow it to be!

Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
