As I sit on my porch this morning looking out at the water, I am reminded of the beauty of God’s creation and the blessing of life itself.
Then as I watch the people walking on the water’s edge with their mask on, I truly feel as if I have entered “the twilight zone”.
Perhaps you are familiar with the show that was hosted by Rod Serling? If not, you should check it out as it dealt with strange and unexplainable phenomenon.
This is what our world seems to be to me today, strange, and unexplainable.
The willingness for people to submit to mandates which have been inconsistent at best is one I cannot relate to. My wife tells me I just do not like being told what to do. Perhaps she is right, but I believe it has more to do with my belief life is about more than just surviving.
I believe life is about the freedom to live, to love and to be loved. It is about individual choice, personal responsibility and yes, being willing to take a risk if you choose to.
Success and living our life well is about finding joy in whatever we do regardless of the cost.
Look around and “picture it if you will”, people are wearing mask outside or while driving in their cars. On a beautiful day they are stepping off the sidewalk and walking up into the grass to distance themselves from others.
This is not just strange and unexplainable. It is confusing and sad to me. In fact, this is a modern version of “the twilight zone” and it is all around us today.
Those who presume to be leaders, our pastors, our politicians, health organizations and the media all play a role in this strange and unexplained phenomenon. But stranger still is the seemingly blind obedience with which people submit themselves to whatever they are asked to do.
I have no issue with someone feeling safer with a mask on or without one. My issue is understanding why we submit ourselves to various mandates and how long will be willing we adhere to them?
I am also amazed at the division our opinions on these issues are causing in our world. It is almost as if we are living in completely different worlds.
I have no idea where we go from here or how we end up? But what I do know is, ladies and gentlemen, we have entered “the twilight zone “. I just hope we find our way out of it before it is too late.
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
