Aging Out or Aging Up

The mirror reveals all. Sometimes more than we want to see. The way we are seen by others also provides a reflection. Which is not always how we see ourselves.

Whether young or old, most will experience moments where they are reminded of their age. In my own life, I was told that younger people would not relate to me the way they would to someone their own age.

It was as if I had “aged out” of relevance, at least in the context where this remark was given.

As is my nature, I was led to consider the possibility.  This is crucial if we are going to find a way to make a difference, whatever season of life we may find ourselves in.

This led me to realize that even though relevance is important. The question is whether that can occur regardless of age. The answer I discovered is yes, because there is intrinsic value in life, no matter the season.

I will close by saying that if you were ever deemed too young or too old. Remember, the value you hold is not predicated on how you are seen by others. Your value is found in how you are seen by God!

We can do this by seeing beyond the image we have created in our minds and realizing we are not “aging out”. We are “aging up,” and the best is yet to come!!

Growing older, but still growing,
