Changing Me

I believe change is ordained by God. We change physically beginning at conception and throughout our lives. Mental change occurs as we learn and grow; for many, our mental capacities eventually begin to diminish.

Emotionally, we change as we deal with life's ups and downs.

If all this is true, why do so many resist change? Often, it is because we fear the unknown or what change might require of us.

I cannot speak for everyone, but I believe that rather than fearing change, we should welcome it. For me, this may be because I find it difficult to settle for the status quo. More importantly, I have found that God often accomplishes His greatest work in my life through seasons of change, changing me in the process.

So, instead of resisting change, maybe we should learn to embrace and trust that the changes taking place are leading us to where we are supposed to go. Then, we may discover that the changes taking place are exactly the ones we need.

The greatest change I have experienced in my spiritual life has occurred when I have sought to be more and more like Jesus.

When Jesus says, "Follow Me." He is inviting us to join Him on the journey, despite the fear and concern the unknown may bring.

Who knows? If we accept His invitation, we may discover that the change we have been resisting is the one He has been preparing in us all along.

Philippians 1:6: He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
