The Joy of Living

Dissatisfaction and anger seem rampant today.

This is a shame because, regardless of our circumstances, it's hard not to see how blessed we are and how much we have to be thankful for. Yet this isn't the perspective many have.

Why?

What we see as blessings, or what we're grateful for, differs for each of us. One person believes that being blessed means having more, while another believes it is simply being loved and cared for.

I have found that focusing on more can reduce my ability to see life’s blessings. This is where I can lose touch with the joy of living.

Though I understand I cannot walk in another person's shoes and may not be able to relate to their situation, I also understand no one has walked in my shoes.

Regardless, if we are experiencing joyless living, maybe we should look around and see what our hearts are focused on. I know that if my focus is on more, there will never be enough, and finding the joy of living will be very difficult.

But if my focus is on the blessings in my life, the joy of living will be hard to avoid.

As we consider whether we are experiencing joyful or joyless living, perhaps we should all take a good look inside before we become consumed with everything happening on the outside!

Philippians 4:11: “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
