War

Writer's picture: John WhiteheadJohn Whitehead

“War,” “good God. What it is good for,” says the song by Edwin Starr. “Absolutely nothing,” it continues. Growing up, whenever we heard this song, we just sang along with no real thought about the proclamation against war, its reasons, and its effects.

Now, as I look back and listen to the song's words, I do so with more intention because I realize that war is certainly not good for much, but it is good for one thing. What could that possibly be?

Profit. Many refuse to consider this cold, hard truth: War is propagated against humanity for profit.

This has been the case since the Rothschilds discovered that financing war was very profitable. They found that the financiers of war do not take sides. Instead, they fund both sides and, therefore, cannot lose.

It is no different today as governments lead their people into wars that cannot be won and are never declared. The profits of the people and organizations that develop, sell, and disperse the weapons of war are enormous.

Who pays for these companies that profit from these never-ending wars? The people who pay taxes and trust their governments to use those tax dollars wisely. Instead, these same tax dollars are spent on funding wars, regime change, and creating chaos throughout the world.

Sadly, money is not the only thing lost in “war.” Ordinary people pay the ultimate price with the lives of their sons and daughters. A true irony is that those who send these children to war never go themselves, and in most cases, neither do their children.

The song continues, saying, “War ain’t nothing but a heartbreaker, a friend of the undertaker”. There may be no truer statement regarding “war” and the useless nature of how it continues to be pushed forward in the name of peace.

Where do we go from here? How do we go from a nation of war to one of peace? We put down the weapons used to destroy innocent lives, take up the Cross of Jesus Christ, and pray for peace.

Is peace possible? Not until we remove the thirst for money that fills the cups of those in the position to profit from” war” with the innocent blood of the people forced to fight those wars.

Will this ever happen? I am unsure, but I know that, as the song says, “Peace, love, and understanding tell me there is no place for anything else.”

The lives of people throughout the world depend on our ability to see that profit is not only found in money but in the love we have received from our Savior and the opportunity to share it.

John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.”
